When word hit that the classic horror movie 'Carrie' was being remade, I wasn't too thrilled, but having Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore in the main roles along with the first full trailer hitting, this one looks like it could be worth checking out. Director Kimberly Peirce originally said that this version would be a complete update, but it looks like it's sticking to its classic roots. Even the trailer has that beautiful soft lighting that Brian DePalma shot Sissy Spacek with.
Casting real teen Chloe Moretz was a smart move for Peirce (Boys Don't Cry), and then adding Julianne Moore was even smarter. Moore was able to tackle playing Sarah Palin in HBO's Game Change and make her human and not just another caricature that many would have done. Moore is definitely playing this role perfectly and not going over the top and chewing scenery which makes the character of Carrie White's mother even more disturbing. Many of us great up in a neighborhood that had someone like her living down the block and just from the trailer, it reminded me of the two that lived near us.
